Description:

In the wake of hurricane Irma (one of the most destructive hurricanes to hit South Florida and the Caribbean in decades), many people are left wondering why God allows such epic destruction. This is indeed one of the great questions of Theology and the ultimate answer is known only to the mind of God. But the storm provides a vivid object lesson of the Scriptural theme of God's willful cycle of destruction and restoration. Just as the foliage which was so brutally mutilated by the storm will for the most part grow back-- God regularly uses destruction to accomplish His will and bring about an even better and more glorious restoration. We will make our way through Scripture finding examples of this theme and then find its culmination in the ultimate destruction-restoration paradigm-- the destruction of sin and the restoration of relationship with God through the Crosswork of Jesus, the Christ!
