Our Vision as a Church 07/27/2011
As I mentioned last month, we are working on our new website and will be unveiling it soon. (Of course, if you are reading this-- you have all ready found it!) As you have probably all ready noticed, we're still fixing some pages and adding more graphics. Last month I sent you the segment on the mission of New Hope Community Church. This month I'm bringing you a discussion of our vision. As usual, we're open for suggestions, so let me know what you think at pastor@nhcrc.org.

Our Mission as a Church 06/03/2011
We have been working hard for months crafting a new website. This one is looking somewhat old and tired and dated. We are not far away from the unveiling, but I wanted to share with you some of the information we will be presenting about our church on the new Site. We have sections for the mission of the church, the vision of the church, our objective, our philosophy, our purpose, and our beliefs. Over the next weeks I'll be sharing those with you through Pastor's Corner. We're open for suggestions, so let me know what you think at pastor@nhcrc.org

The Glory of Easter 04/01/2011
Many people wonder what makes Christianity so different from other religions. They ask, "Aren't they all basically the same--just variations on a theme?" Well, no, they are not all the same. Christianity is unique among all the world's religions and during this season, we celebrate the reason why: the resurrection! The resurrection means that we, too, will be resurrected when He returns to claim His own from this world.

Crying In the Marketplace 01/06/2011
It was Tuesday afternoon at the African Bible College and that meant "outreach". The entire college (faculty and students alike) looked forward to Tuesday afternoon, because it gave them the opportunity to fan out into the communities around Lilongwe, Malawi to engage in various types of ministry. Some would go to the hospitals to encourage the sick. Others would go downtown and share the Gospel with passersby in the busy financial district. Still others would go to a local prison to play soccer and then share a Bible study with the inmates. I was assigned to a group heading to the local market for some "open-air" preaching.

Expectations of Christmas 12/15/2010
Christmas is a time of expectation.
Children are filled with wonder and expectation, to see if their favorite toys will end up under the trees in their living rooms. Families look forward in expectation to sweet reunions as loved ones return home for the holidays. People in northern climates live in expectation of a fresh snow fall and perhaps a white Christmas. All of us hope in the expectation that a New Year will bring joy, peace, and prosperity.
But none of these represent the greatest expectation of Christmas. I don't know of anyone who typifies this expectation better than Simeon of ancient Jerusalem.
